Saint Paraskeva was born in 1878 in the village of Makarievo, in the Moscow Province, into the family of Kosma Makariev. Following her father's death in 1907, her family devoted themselves entirely to farming. She completed her agricultural education and, in 1903, entered a women's monastery in the Kaluga Province, where she pursued her ascetic life until the monastery was closed in 1925.
In 1937, she was arrested by the NKVD and charged with counter-revolutionary propaganda. During the interrogations, she firmly denied all accusations, maintaining that she had never opposed the authorities.
On February 25, 1938, an NKVD troika sentenced her to death. She was executed on March 7, 1938, and buried in a mass grave at the Butovo execution site near Moscow.
