Paraskeva Kochneva

Saint Paraskeva was born in 1890 in the village of Kochnevo, Orenburg province. After finishing rural school, she served at the church, protecting it from closure. In 1932, at the request of the authorities, she moved to Miass, where she became a guardian at the church of Saint Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky. In 1937, after the arrest of the priest, she submitted a complaint to the All-Russian Central Executive Committee, asking for a new priest to be sent. On December 27, 1937, during a visit to Moscow, Paraskeva was arrested and imprisoned in Butyrka prison. On February 14, 1938, the NKVD troika sentenced her to ten years of imprisonment in a labor camp. She passed away on April 8, 1939, in the camp hospital from wounds.
