Presbyter
Father Panteleimon Bogoyavlensky was born around 1881 in the Pskov province to a psalmist's family. He graduated from the Pskov Theological Seminary in 1903 and was appointed as a psalmist in the Nikolsky Church of Alexandrovsky Posad. In 1907, he was ordained as a deacon, and in 1908, he was ordained as a priest at the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God of the Blagoveshchensky Women's Monastery. The monastery was founded in 1898 and had a social ministry, raising orphaned girls.
In 1911, Father Panteleimon was transferred to serve as a priest in the village of Verkhny Ostry, and later to the Lopuhińskaya Invalid Church of Saint Nicholas in the village of Karachunitsy. In this house of care for disabled soldiers, he served for former defenders of the Fatherland. Soon, his preaching abilities were noticed, and he was transferred to Pskov to the Holy Trinity Cathedral as a second priest.
Father Panteleimon actively preached, striving to clarify true Christian values and to counter political and religious propaganda. He also engaged in teaching at the Pskov Theological School. In 1914, he was awarded a kamilavka for his diligence in service.
In October 1917, the Bolshevik coup occurred. In the spring of 1918, Father Panteleimon was shot without trial and investigation by the enemies of the Christian Church for his sermons. His death was recorded in the journal 'Weekly VCHK', where he was mentioned as shot for spreading false rumors. Father Panteleimon was killed for his bold preaching against the enemies of the Holy Christ Church; he was 37 years old and had served in the priesthood for 11 years.
Saint Martyr Panteleimon Bogoyavlensky became the patron of the Pskov region, praying and interceding before the Throne of God.
