Saint Palladius Ivanovich Popov was born on January 27, 1879, in the village of Ustye of the Nikolsky district of the Vologda province in a priest's family. In 1902, he graduated from the Arkhangelsk Theological Seminary with a second-class diploma. Since 1913, he was ordained as a priest to the Gam's Sreten Church and served as the legal advisor of the Gam's parish school. He was arrested on July 31, 1937, and sentenced on September 21, 1937, by the troika of the NKVD of the Komi ASSR to the highest measure of punishment. He was shot in Izhma between September 22 and 25, 1937. The Holy Synod canonized Priest Palladius Popov among the saints on October 6, 2001.
