Hosius of Corduba

Saint Hosius of Corduba withdrew from worldly life, renouncing its pleasures and its daily concerns. Adorned with virtues, he devoted himself to God and became a bishop.
He was a great defender of the Orthodox faith. He took part in the First Ecumenical Council and firmly opposed the heresy of Arius. His stance provoked the supporters of Arianism, who fought against him in every possible way.
After the rise of the Emperor Constantius and the removal of all Orthodox bishops, due to their support for Saint Athanasius the Great, he saint was exiled, endured many trials and ultimately surrendered his sould to the Lord.
The Church celebrates his memory on August 27.
