Saint Onuphrius of Voronezh is known for his ascetic life and monastic struggles. He glorified the Lord unceasingly until the day of his repose in 1789.

He was canonized by the Romanian Orthodox Church, while on 21 August 2007, his name was also entered among the saints by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.
