Martyrs Nunekhia, Basilissa, and Theodora
Martyrs
The holy Martyr Leonidas and the holy Martyresses Chariessa, Nika, Galina, Kalisa (Kalida), Nunechia, Basilissa, and Theodora suffered for their faith in Christ in Corinth in the year 258. They were cast into the sea, but did not sink; instead, they walked upon the water as on dry land, singing spiritual hymns. The tormentors pursued the confessors by boat, hung stones around their necks, and drowned them.
Later, their bodies were found on the seashore by pious Christians, and a church was built at the place of their burial.
Days of commemoration: March 23 (March 10 according to the Old Style) and April 29 (April 16 according to the Old Style).
