Saint Nikolai was born in 1887 in the village of Bochevino, Bronnitsky district of Moscow province. From 1897, he was a singer in the church choir. After graduating from the Vladimir Spiritual Seminary in 1907, he became a teacher at the parish school. In 1911, he served as a deacon, and in 1912, he was ordained a priest. He served in the village of Golenishchevo until June 1917, and then was appointed priest in the village of Zagariino, where he served until 1926. Father Nikolai was arrested on November 3, 1929, on charges of agitating against collective farms. After the investigation, he was sentenced to three years in a concentration camp. After serving his sentence, he served in the Pokrov Church, and then in the Bogoroditse-Rozhdestvenskaya Church. On November 22, 1937, he was arrested by the Zaraysk NKVD and sentenced to execution on November 27. He was shot on December 3, 1937, at the Butovo firing range and buried in an unmarked grave.
