On October 21, 1937, the rector of the Ascension Church in the village of Tereyaeva Sloboda, Moscow region, protodeacon Nikolai Vinogradov, deacon of the church Peter Smirnov, and layman Gavriil Bezfamilny, as well as the rector of the Church of the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos in the village of Spirovo, protodeacon Dmitry Lebedev, were arrested.
Holy Martyr Nikolai was born on April 21, 1876, in the city of Dmitrov, Moscow province, in the family of deacon Ioann Vinogradov. In 1901, he graduated from the Moscow Theological Academy. He married Ekaterina Pavlovna Sokolova and was ordained as a priest. In 1914, he was awarded the degree of Master of Theology. In 1920, he was elevated to the rank of protodeacon. In 1929, he was appointed rector of the Church of Saints Florus and Laurus on Zatsepa. In 1933, he was arrested and imprisoned in Butyrka prison. On February 19, the investigation was completed, and on March 15, 1933, the Special Meeting of the Collegium of the OGPU sentenced him to three years of exile. He was released on January 2, 1936, and on January 21, he was assigned to serve in the Ascension Church. On October 21, 1937, he was arrested again and accused of anti-Soviet agitation. He was shot on November 27, 1937, and buried in an anonymous mass grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
Holy Martyr Dmitry was born in 1871 in the village of Spirovo, Volokolamsk district, Moscow province, in the family of priest Alexander Lebedev. In 1892, he graduated from the Moscow Theological Academy and was ordained as a priest. He served in the Church of the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos in the village of Spirovo. During the persecutions, he was arrested and exiled for three years to Kazakhstan. On October 21, 1937, he was arrested again. He did not confess to any guilt during the interrogations. He was shot on November 27, 1937, and buried in an anonymous mass grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
Martyr Gavriil (Gavriil Gavriilovich Bezfamilny) was born in 1880 in Moscow. He worked as a plumber and served in the church. On October 21, 1937, he was arrested on charges of anti-Soviet agitation. On November 23, 1937, the NKVD troika sentenced him to death by shooting. He was shot on November 27, 1937, and buried in an anonymous mass grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
