Presbyter
Saint Nicholas was born on February 28, 1885, in the village of Pesyane, Pokrovsky district, Vladimir province. His mother, Ekaterina Antonovna, was the daughter of a priest, and his father, Vasily Vladimirovich, worked in the state treasury. After the death of his mother in 1888, Vasily Vladimirovich remarried Ekaterina Speranskaya. Nicholas graduated from Murom Spiritual School and Vladimir Spiritual Seminary in 1907. In 1914, he was ordained as a deacon and then as a priest. He served in churches in Vladimir and Moscow regions, including the church of the great martyr Paraskeva and in the Assumption Church. In 1930, due to taxes, he moved to the village of Voskresenskoye, where his priestly activity was under pressure from the authorities. In 1938, after his arrest, he was shot and buried in an unmarked grave at the Butovo shooting range. In 1956, after statements from his family, witnesses confirmed that he did not engage in anti-Soviet propaganda and was a priest leading a modest life.
