Saint Nicholas was born on May 15, 1889, in the village of Ilgoshchi, Tver Province. In 1913, he graduated from the Tver Theological Seminary and married Maria. They had six children. Nicholas was ordained as a priest and served in churches, but in 1929 he was arrested for refusing to fulfill state duties and was sent into exile in the Vologda region. He described the sufferings of his family and the difficulties they struggled to overcome. In 1933, upon completing his term of exile, he returned to Tver Province and continued to serve in the Ascension Church. On February 16, 1938, he was arrested for the second time and accused of counter-revolutionary agitation. On February 26, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. Priest Nicholas was shot on February 28, 1938, and buried in an unmarked grave.
