Saint Nicholas (Nikolai Ivanovich Maslov) was born in 1874 in the city of Tver. After graduating from the theological school and pastoral courses, he was ordained a priest in 1924 and served in Tver at the church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Burning Bush." In 1937, under the harsh persecution of the Church, he was arrested by the NKVD. During the interrogation, the priest did not admit guilt in counter-revolutionary activities. On December 2, 1937, the NKVD troika sentenced him to ten years in a correctional labor camp. In July 1938, while in prison in the settlement of Lykoshino, he passed away on January 17, 1939, after a severe illness.
