Presbyter
Saint Nicholas was born on April 26, 1875, in the village of Petrovskoye, Moscow province. He completed three classes at the Zvenigorod Theological School and was drafted into military service. After his military service, Nicholas served in the ecclesiastical department, working as a teacher and a psalmist. In 1909, he was ordained as a deacon, and in 1925 – as a priest at the Spasskaya Church. In the 1930s, he was elevated to the rank of protopresbyter and continued to serve despite the persecutions.
In 1935, the Spasskaya Church was closed, and Father Nicholas moved to the church in the village of Batrakovo. On August 13, 1936, he was arrested and accused of anti-Soviet agitation. In 1936, he was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in a labor camp. In 1942, he peacefully departed in the night from December 11 to 12, freezing in the camp.
