Bishop
He was born on May 28, 1871, in the village of Tomash, Vologda province, into the family of a priest. In 1893, he graduated from the Vologda Theological Seminary and was appointed as a psalmist in the Georgievsky Church. In 1894, he was ordained as a deacon, and in 1898 – as a priest of the Spassky Cathedral.
From 1901, he served as the rector of the Catherine Church, actively participating in charitable and educational activities. In 1921, he was arrested on charges of counter-revolutionary activities and exiled to the city of Pinega.
After returning from exile, in 1923, he was consecrated as a bishop of Velsk and temporarily appointed to manage the Vologda diocese. In 1924, he refused to manage the diocese and continued to serve in the Catherine Church.
In 1931, a new wave of persecution against the Russian Orthodox Church began. On May 10, 1931, he was arrested along with other clergy. During interrogations, he responded calmly, not confirming the accusations.
On December 14, 1931, he was sentenced to three years of exile in the Northern Territory, and on March 7, 1932, to the same term, but in Kazakhstan. He passed away on April 17, 1932, in prison and was buried in an unmarked grave.
