He was born in 1886 in the village of Shershevskoye, in the Perevoz district of the Nizhny Novgorod province. He served as a priest in his native village. In 1928, he was arrested and exiled to the city of Buzuluk. In 1935, for 'anti-Soviet propaganda', he was sentenced to three years in a labor camp and sent to the Karlag of the NKVD (Kazakhstan, Karaganda region). In 1937, he was arrested in the camp 'for refusing to work, participating in religious gatherings, and conducting propaganda among the population'. On November 2, 1937, he was shot. He was canonized on August 20, 2000, by the Hierarchical Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.
