Saint Nicholas, born on December 24, 1876, in the village of Nebdino, Vologda province, was destined to live a life full of service to God and his flock. After graduating from the Usty-Sysol Spiritual School and the Vologda Theological Seminary, he was ordained a priest on September 29, 1899. His ministry began in the Pomozdinsk Uspensky Church, then he was transferred to the Usty-Kulom Petropavlovsky Church, and in 1906 he became the rector of the Anyb Church in the village of Anyb.
While in his position, he actively preached the Word of God, guided his flock, and worked in the field of enlightenment. For his merits, he was awarded medals in memory of the 25th anniversary of the restoration of the church school and the 300th anniversary of the reign of the House of Romanov. Significant events took place in his parish, such as the receipt of the icon of Saint Blessed Grand Duchess Anna and the transfer of the relics of Saint Stephen of Perm.
With the onset of World War I, he established a Charitable Council to assist the families of soldiers. Father Nicholas witnessed the tragic events of 1917 when he was elected at the meeting of the Provisional Volost Committee. After the revolution, he served as a priest in the Ascension Church, but soon the church was closed, and he was arrested.
He was held under guard in the Syktyvkar prison of the NKVD, where he was accused of counter-revolutionary agitation. At the meeting of the troika of the UNKVD of the Komi ASSR on August 23, 1937, he was sentenced and executed.
