Deacon
Saint Nicholas was born in 1877 in the family of priest Vasily Bogorodsky in the Uspensky Church of the village of Okatovo, Tver Province. After graduating from the Theological Seminary, he began serving as a psalmist, and in 1906 he was ordained to the deaconate at the Church of the Annunciation. He served during the time of persecutions and was arrested shortly before his martyrdom. In 1929, his property was confiscated for late tax payment, and he was sent to a corrective labor camp. After returning, he served until the persecutions of the late 1930s. He was arrested on November 6, 1937, and during interrogation, he denied any anti-Soviet activities. On November 25, the NKVD Troika sentenced him to execution, and he was shot on November 27, 1937.
