Deacon
The clergyman was born in 1872 in the village of Strakhovo, Tula province, into a noble family. After receiving an education, he worked as a estate manager and became interested in artistic photography, opening his photo studio in 1900. He had two daughters, and after the death of his wife, he raised them in piety.
In 1917, he moved to Sergiev Posad, where he reopened his photo studio, but in 1929 he gave it up, deciding to devote his life to serving the Church. In July 1930, he was ordained as a deacon at the church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
In April 1931, he was arrested and imprisoned in Butyrka prison. During interrogations, he asserted that he prayed for the improvement of the Church's situation. Accused of being a member of a counter-revolutionary organization, he was sentenced to death and executed on June 10, 1931, buried in an unmarked grave at Vagankovo Cemetery in Moscow.
After his execution, his daughters were returned their father's belongings and a note asking them to take care of their sick sister. The younger daughter, choosing the Church, continued her service, caring for her sister and maintaining a pious life.
