Bishop
Saint Nikitas loved Christ from a very young age and renounced the world, desiring to devote himself entirely to the faith. He ascended the episcopal throne of Chalkedona, where he enlightened the people, becoming an ornament of the Church.
He showed great mercy toward the poor, giving food to the hungry, clothes to the naked, offering hospitality to those in need, and caring for the orphans and the widows.
During the period of the iconoclastic controversy, in the reign of Emperor Leon, the saint became a courageous confessor of the name of Christ. He denounced the unorthodox doctrines and urged the faithful to render proper honor to the holy icons. He endured many trials, being exiled and humbled for his faith.
After many struggles, Saint Nikitas fell asleep in the Lord. Numerous miracles and healings were performed by his holy relics, to the glory of the one true and Triune God.
