Archbishop
Archbishop
Saint Nikita was the archbishop of the city of Apolloniada. He was distinguished by his piety, mercy, and deep knowledge of the Holy Scriptures. During the persecution by the iconoclasts, he was pressured to refrain from honoring the holy icons, but he steadfastly resisted this pressure. As a result, he was exiled to confinement, where he ended his life during the reign of Leo the Armenian.
