Saint Martyr Nikita, originally from the Gothic land, was baptized by Bishop Theophilus and became a zealous preacher of Christianity. During the persecutions of Christians instigated by Prince Fanarich, he boldly reproached the tormentor Afanarykh, who was pursuing the faithful. Nikita steadfastly endured torture and, despite the cruel sufferings, did not renounce Christ. He was tortured by fire, but his body remained unharmed, and he accepted a martyr's death, gaining eternal life.
The body of the saint was left unburied until a pious Christian named Marian decided to secretly take it. With the help of a heavenly star, he found the body and, returning to his hometown of Mopsuestia, buried it with honor. Through the relics of Saint Nikita, healings and miracles occurred, which led to the construction of a church in his honor.
Bishop Auxentius, wishing to obtain a part of the saint's relics, encountered a miracle: the marble stone of the tomb split, and he who dared to touch the relics was punished. However, after the bishop's prayer, he was healed, which confirmed the sanctity and power of Saint Martyr Nikita.
