Saint Natalia was born in 1890 in the village of Shestovo, Podolsk district of Moscow province. In 1903, she entered as a novice in the Novodevichy Monastery in Moscow, where she labored until 1918. After the monastery was closed, she remained living on its territory, working for various people in household chores. In 1931, she got a job as a cleaner in the Institute of Balneology in Moscow.
On November 27, 1937, nun Natalia was arrested. Subsequent interrogations revealed that she refused public assignments and did not participate in counter-revolutionary activities. On December 7, 1937, the NKVD troika sentenced her to eight years of imprisonment in a labor camp, and she was sent to Siblag.
On January 8, 1938, she arrived in Mariinsk, where she fell ill and was placed in the camp hospital. Saint Martyr Natalia Baklanova passed away on March 31, 1938, and was buried in an unmarked grave.
