Martyrs Mark and Mocius
Martyrs
The Martyrs Mark and Mocius were arrested and handed over to the Bishop Maximian. He urged them to offer sacrifices to the idols, and when they refused, he threatened them with death.
The saints were led to the altar, yet they remained steadfast in their faith and courageously refused to offer sacrifices to the idols.
In the end, it was ordered that they be beheaded.
As Saint Mocianus was walking toward the place of their execution, his wife and children followed him, weeping. Instead of wavering, the saint urged them not to weep but to rejoice in his martyrdom.
Likewise, when Saint Mark was beheaded, his wife took his head in her hands and held it with joy, regarding it as a precious treasure of holiness.
