The Holy Prophet Micaiah lived during the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, at the same time with the Prophet Isaiah.
He is remembered for foretelling the disastrous outcome of King Ahab’s war against Syria. When King Jehoshaphat visited Ahab, the latter proposed that they join forces in battle. However, before proceeding, Jehoshaphat asked that they seek the will of the Lord. Ahab called the false prophets of Baal, who predicted victory.
Jehoshaphat, on the other hand, requested that they also consult a prophet of the true God. Ahab mentioned Micaiah, though he admitted that he disliked him, since the prophet continually denounced his wrongdoing and never spoke favorably of him.
When Micaiah was brought before the two kings, he prophesied that Israel would be scattered like sheep without a shepherd. He warned them against going to war and urged them to return home in peace. Jehoshaphat followed his advice, but Ahab entered the battle and was slain in the very conflict that Micaiah had foretold.
