Saint Michael Troitsky was born on November 6, 1878, in the village of Pokrovskoye, Tula Province. He graduated from the Theological Seminary and completed three courses at the Moscow Theological Academy. In 1913, he was ordained a priest, serving in the village of Troitskoye, and later in the Assumption Church of the village of Valishchevo.
On November 27, 1937, he was arrested and imprisoned in a prison in Serpukhov. He was accused of anti-Soviet agitation, expressing criticism of the Soviet government. On December 1, 1937, the judicial troika sentenced him to ten years of imprisonment in a corrective labor camp.
In March 1938, he was arrested again on new charges, where thirty-one priests were accused of anti-Soviet agitation. On March 31, 1938, the troika of the NKVD sentenced him to execution by shooting. Priest Michael did not admit his guilt.
On August 5, 1938, he was shot and buried in an unmarked grave. The memory of Saint Michael the Martyr is commemorated on July 23 (August 5) and on the day of the celebration of the Assembly of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.
