Saint Michael was born on March 19, 1889, in the village of Pokrovskoye, Yaroslavl Province. In 1910, he graduated from the Yaroslavl Theological Seminary and was ordained as a priest. He served in the Kazan Church in the village of Arkhangelsk, where he became a support for the peasants, fulfilling the roles of a legal advisor, doctor, and veterinarian.
The first arrest occurred in 1923, and then in 1930 he was accused of counter-revolutionary activities and spent seven months in prison. On November 18, 1930, he was arrested again for agitation against collective farms and anti-Soviet sermons.
On January 31, 1931, the OGPU troika sentenced him to three years of exile in the Northern Territory. After his exile, he returned to Yaroslavl, where he worked as a janitor and in a psychiatric hospital. The priest's health was undermined, and in September 1940 he was dismissed due to disability. Saint Michael passed away on January 21, 1941.
