Saint Michael was born on February 22, 1878, in the village of Podlesnaya Sloboda, Ryazan Province. After graduating from the Zaraysk Spiritual School and the Ryazan Theological Seminary, he served as a teacher of the Law of God, and in 1902 he was ordained a priest. In January 1917, he began serving in the Church of the Nativity of Christ in the village of Lower Maslovo.
In July 1937, at a meeting of the collective farm, it was decided to close the church, but Father Michael appealed to the believers with an explanation, and the church was not closed.
In February 1938, the priest was arrested on charges of counter-revolutionary agitation. On February 21, 1938, he was sentenced to death and was shot on February 26, being buried in an unmarked grave at the Butovo firing range near Moscow.
