Saint Martyr Michael was born on October 15, 1888, in the city of Polotsk, Vitebsk province, in the family of priest Fyodor Okolovich. In 1904, he entered the Vitebsk Theological Seminary, and in 1910 — the Saint Petersburg Theological Academy, which he graduated from in 1914. In 1914, he married Maria Maximovna Mastryukovich.
From 1914, he served as a law clerk and inspector of the Irkutsk Theological School, and on November 23 of the same year, he was ordained a priest. In 1918, after the rise of the godless to power, he was appointed priest of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Irkutsk, where he became a well-known and respected pastor.
In February 1921, he was arrested on charges of possessing weapons but was soon released. In 1924, he preached defending Orthodoxy against the Renovationists. On October 27, 1924, he delivered a sermon about the Gospel Sower, warning against false teachers.
On February 17, 1925, he was arrested again and imprisoned in Irkutsk prison. On April 8, 1925, he was sentenced to three years in a labor camp. In the camp, he served as a clerk and accountant. After his term ended, he was forced to settle in Minusinsk, where he continued to serve despite prohibitions.
On February 26, 1933, he was arrested again, accused of counter-revolutionary activities, and sentenced to ten years in a correctional labor camp. On June 10, 1933, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution. On March 26, 1938, he was executed and buried in a common unmarked grave.
