Presbyter
The Holy Martyr Michael was born in 1883 in the village of Grebnevo, in the Shchyolkovo district of the Bogorodsk region of Moscow.
From 1902, after graduating from the theological school, he served as a chanter at the Church of Saint John the Baptist in the village of Fryanovo. In 1917, he was ordained a deacon, and in 1921, a priest.
In 1937, following the outbreak of persecutions, he was arrested on accusations that he had expressed dissatisfaction for the Soviet government and that he was organizing the faithful to protect the local church against the will of the authorities. During the interrogation, the saint denied all charges.
On December 7, 1937, he was sentenced to ten years of forced labor in a camp. He was thus sent to the White Sea–Baltic Canal, where he labored until he lost his life on March 2, 1938.
