Presbyter
Saint Michael was born on November 4, 1881, in the village of Goretovo, Mozhaysk district, Moscow province. He graduated from the Zvenigorod Theological School and the Vifansk Theological Seminary. In 1908, he was ordained a priest at the Trinity Church of Goretovo. In 1929, local authorities attempted to close the church, but he managed to defend it by appealing to the parishioners for help. In 1933, he was arrested and sentenced to three years of imprisonment in a labor camp, but in 1936 he returned to his native village. From 1937, he served in the Transfiguration Church, where he proved himself to be a zealous pastor. On November 29, 1937, he was arrested again and sentenced to ten years of imprisonment in a labor camp. He passed away on June 16, 1938, in the Mariinsky camp and was buried in an unmarked grave.
