Michael Markov

Martyr Michael was born on November 8, 1884, in the village of Glukhino, Klin district of Moscow province. He engaged in barrel-making and was a psalmist in the Tikhvin Church. On November 14, 1937, he was arrested and imprisoned in Taganka prison. The next day he stated that he did not recognize himself as guilty. On November 19, the NKVD troika sentenced him to ten years of imprisonment in a labor camp. On December 31, 1937, he arrived at the Mariinsky camps, where he died of hunger on March 12, 1938, and was buried in an unmarked grave.
