He was born in 1875 in the village of Krylova, Chembarsky district of Penza province. He graduated from the Teacher's Seminary. He served in the village of Studenki, Lipetsk district of Lipetsk region. He was arrested in 1935 for 'participation in an anti-revolutionary group led by Bishop Uar (Shmarin Pyotr Alekseevich),' and was sentenced to five years of imprisonment. In 1937, he was exiled to Karlag, Tartaul section. In the camp, he was arrested for organizing anti-revolutionary propaganda among the prisoners. He was shot on November 2, 1937. He was canonized on August 20, 2000, by the Hierarchical Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.
