Presbyter
Mikhail Gusev was born on October 25, 1890, in the family of priest Ioann Gusev. In 1913, he was ordained as a priest and appointed to the Serafimo-Diveevsky Monastery. In 1927, the monastery was closed, and during the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, he was arrested for the prohibition on ringing the bells for the all-night vigil. He was taken to the Arzamas prison, but after two weeks, he was released and appointed as the rector of the Church of St. Nicholas in Kulebaki. Father Mikhail was known for his kindness and fairness, helping the sisters of the ruined community and the children of the arrested. On August 31, 1937, he was arrested again, leaving a note for his wife: 'Do not cry, do not complain - it is time for this.' He rejected the accusations. Protopriest Mikhail Gusev was shot on November 7/20, on the eve of his angel's day. In 2001, he was included in the Synaxis of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.
