Mikhail Alexandrovich Berezin was born on June 13, 1889, in the village of Maloye Karachkino, Kazan province, into the family of a deacon. After studying at the Kazan Theological Seminary, he began his ministry, first as a psalmist, and later was ordained as a deacon and priest. He served in the Petropavlovsk Church of the village of Kuznetsovo until 1936, where he was respected and loved by the parishioners for his kindness and sincere desire to help.
In the 1930s, the priest faced pressure from the Soviet authorities, who sought grounds for his arrest. On October 29, 1936, he was arrested and accused of counter-revolutionary agitation. Despite the lack of serious evidence, he was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment.
After serving his sentence in VETLAG, he was arrested again and accused of participating in a counter-revolutionary organization. During interrogations, the priest showed courage and refused to testify. On December 25, 1937, he was sentenced to death by shooting, which was carried out on January 13, 1938.
