Saint Michael was born on October 21, 1883, in the city of Ostashkov, Tver Province, in the family of tailor Sergey Lyubertsev. He graduated from a theological school and from 1901 to 1907 was a teacher at the 4th parish school. In 1907, he became a psalmist at the Transfiguration Church. In 1912, he was ordained as a deacon and served until 1918, then began serving at the Znamensky Monastery. In 1931, he was arrested for illegal religious activity and sentenced to three years of exile in the Northern region. After returning in 1934, he was ordained as a priest at the Assumption Church in the village of Shchuchye, where he served until his martyr's death in 1937. The authorities obstructed his ministry, but he continued to serve and visit parishioners. On August 31, the NKVD Troika sentenced Father Michael to execution, and he was shot on September 4, 1937.
