Venerable Memnon dedicated himself to God from a very young age, becoming a pure dwelling of the Holy Spirit. He subdued the flesh to the spirit, overcoming all passions through many labors and countless hours of prayer. Saint Memnon was an abbot and, because of his virtuous life, he received from God the gift of working miracles. He healed incurable illnesses, brought water to dry places through his prayers, saved ships from sinking, and drove away locusts that were destroying crops. While striving in fasting, Memnon peacefully departed to the Lord, full of grace.
After his death, he continued to perform miracles, healing the sick and casting out all evil.
On the same day as the commemoration of the saint, we also honor the holy martyrs Diodorus and Rhodopian the deacon, who suffered under Diocletian in Aphrodisia of Caria.
