Hieromonk
Saint Meletius (in the world, Mikhail Mikhailovich Fedyunov) was born in 1871 in the village of Zanulye, Usty-Sysolsky district of Vologda province. He became an hieromonk at the Trinity-Stefanov Monastery. In 1918, the monastery was closed, and its property was looted. On September 18, 1919, Father Meletius was arrested by the Northern Dvina GubCheka and sent to a concentration camp, but was soon released with the obligation to reside in the city of Lalsk. In November 1919, the monks were arrested again and sentenced to imprisonment until the end of the Civil War. After his release, Father Meletius settled in the village of Kuzhba, where he performed the necessary rites but did not serve in the church. In 1929, he was arrested on charges of illegal currency transactions, but the case did not go to court. Father Meletius was arrested for the last time on September 2, 1937, and was shot on September 21.
