Archimandrite
He was born in 1880 in Kronstadt, and at baptism received the name Mikhail. He studied at the Saint Petersburg Spiritual Schools and, upon completing his studies, accepted the rank of priest. He chose Turkestan as his place of service, where he became the rector of the Church of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in Merv. After the revolution, his life was full of suffering: he was arrested multiple times and forbidden to perform his pastoral duties. Leaving his family, he walked to Russia and at the Trinity-Sergius Lavra took monastic vows with the name Mauricius. Later, he became an archimandrite and was transferred to the parish in Yuriev-Polsky of the Vladimir diocese. In 1937, he was arrested and shot after a collapse at the mine where he worked.
