Presbyter
Matthew Ivanovich Alexandrov was born in 1872 in the village of Verkhniy Rogachik near Melitopol. He graduated from the Kyiv Theological Seminary and served in the Church of St. Nicholas. Father Matthew was a strict, sober, and merciful priest who called for prayer and repentance, especially after the revolution. On December 10, 1920, he was arrested and spent time in the Zaporizhzhia Cheka until August 29, 1921. After temporary release, he continued to serve and preach, causing concern among the authorities. On December 12, 1921, the priest was arrested again on charges of counter-revolutionary activity and was shot on December 15, 1921, after a swift trial.
