Maron of Syria
Venerable
St. Maron chose the ascetic life of a hermit, ascending to the summit of a mountain where a pagan temple stood, which he dedicated to God. He lived in it, constructing a small hut that he offered to the sick who came to him for healing. Through the prayers of the saint, God healed many from their ailments and cast out demons. The venerable one founded numerous monasteries and labored in virtue, healing both the bodies and souls of people. After enduring many illnesses, he passed away after a brief sickness and departed to the Lord in the 4th century.
On the same day, we commemorate the holy equal-to-the-apostles Cyril, the teacher of the Slavs, who reposed on February 14, 869.
