Martyrs
The Holy Martyrs Marcian and Nikandros were natives of Egypt. They were arrested by order of the regional governor and subjected to harsh tortures for their faith. They were savagely beaten, burned on various parts of their bodies, hung up, and brutally flayed. After these torments, they were thrown into prison. There, an Angel of the Lord appeared to them and healed all their wounds.
When they were released, they presented themselves again before the court and courageously confessed their faith before the governor, an act that moved many pagans to believe in the true God.
The holy martyrs were once more condemned to imprisonment, where, tormented by hunger and thirst, they surrendered their souls to the Lord.
