Martyr Marcian of Iconium
Martyr
Saint Marcian was born in Iconium.
From his early youth, he was arrested and subjected to cruel humiliations. When he was brought before the governor Perennia in Cappadocia, he refused to worship the idols. Moreover, he criticized the governor for his pagan beliefs, remaining steadfast in his faith in Christ. Enraged by these accusations and by the young man’s uncompromising stance, the governor subjected him to even harsher tortures.
Saint Marcian never ceased to confess his love and devotion to the one true God. He endured all tortures with humility, until he got beheaded.
He reposed in Cappadocia around 258 AD.
