Saint Martyr Mamelfha, originally from Persia, was a priestess of a pagan goddess. After a vision of an angel, who revealed to her the mysteries of the Christian faith, she converted to Christianity and was baptized by a bishop, with her sister as her godmother. The pagans, enraged by her conversion, stoned her while she was still in her baptismal garments. Her body was thrown into a pit, but later it was found by Christians and given a proper burial. The bishop, having obtained permission from the Persian king, destroyed the temple of the pagan goddess and built a church in the name of Saint Mamelfha, where her relics were laid. During the transfer of her relics, many miracles and healings occurred, leading to the conversion of many pagans to Christ.
