The holy prophet Malachi, who came from the tribe of Zebulun, lived and prophesied during the time of Nehemiah after the return of the Jews from Babylonian captivity, when the Jerusalem temple was restored. He was known for his pious life and purity, for which the people called him Malachi, meaning "Angel of the Lord." The prophet rebuked the people and the priests for their lack of reverence towards God, for offering poor sacrifices, as well as for straying from the right path and hypocrisy. He warned of God's judgment for treachery, adultery, false oaths, and the oppression of widows and orphans. Malachi also foretold the glory of the second temple and the coming of the Messiah, as well as the appearance of the Forerunner before His coming. The holy prophet died at a young age and was buried in his native village of Supha, becoming the last Old Testament prophet and the seal of the prophets.
