Presbyter
Priest Maxim, who was ordained as a priest in the city of Totma, spent 45 years as a fool for Christ, remaining in prayer and fasting. He reposed on January 16, 1650, and was buried at the Resurrection Varitskaya Church. His life and the healings that flowed from his grave served as the basis for the composition of a narrative about him, but it was burned in 1676. In 1715, a tomb was erected over the relics of the saint, and the bishop permitted the serving of molebens.
Miracles continued: in 1680, Boris Timofeev was healed from fever, calling upon the righteous for help. In 1691, Arefa Malievinsky, who had not risen from his bed, was also healed by invoking the saint. Fyodor Vasilyev, who was in a state of paralysis, felt healing after a dream in which the righteous appeared to him. Anna Yakovleva, who suffered from madness, was healed after a panikhida at his grave.
