Martyrs Maximus, Theodotus, Hesychius, and Asclepiodota of Adrianople
Martyrs
The holy martyrs suffered for their faith in Christ in Adrianople during the persecutions of Emperor Maximian (305–311). They endured numerous torments: they were first suspended on a tree and scraped with iron hooks. Then, with indignities, they were led from city to city and given to wild beasts to be devoured. Preserved by the grace of God, the holy martyrs remained unharmed, only accepting a martyr's end at the hands of their tormentors. The holy martyr Asclepiodota was first beaten on the ground, then suspended on a tree and stoned, after which her head was cut off.
