Martyrs Theodotus, Asclepiodotus, and Maximus, of Adrianopolis
Martyrs
The holy martyrs Maximus and Asclepius, who lived in Mizia in the city of Marcianopolis, were known for their piety and converted many to the true faith. By the order of the Thracian governor Tiris, they were subjected to cruel tortures for confessing Christ. Theodotus, who reproached the torturer, was also captured and tortured. After enduring further sufferings, the martyrs were thrown to the beasts in the circus, but the animals did them no harm. Ultimately, after refusing to renounce their faith, they had their heads cut off in the village of Saltis. The torturer, shortly after this, was struck by lightning.
