Saint Loukillianos lived during the reign of the Roman emperor Aurelian. He was a pagan and a priest. However, after hearing the preaching of the Christians, he came to believe in Christ, rejected the idols, and began to spread the Christian faith. His teaching led many to be baptized, which provoked the anger of the pagans, who slandered him and handed him over to the authorities. Silvanos, the governor of Nicomedia, tried to force him to renounce the true God, but Loukillianos remained steadfast.
He endured all the tortures, beatings, and imprisonment. Εven from his cell he managed to teach, calling his fellow prisoners to repentance. He was thrown into the fire, but he was miraculously saved.
Nevertheless, he was sentenced to death and got crucified, surrendering his spirit to God.
Along with him, there suffered Saint Pavli, who was arrested for caring for those in need in the name of Christ. She was subjected to horrible tortures.
She endured every pain and humiliation until she was beheaded.
Together with Saint Loukillianos and Saint Pavli, we also commemorate the young children Klavdios, Ypatios, Pavlos, and Dionysios.
