Saint Loukianos was born to noble Roman parents. He became a disciple of the Apostle Peter, receiving from him wisdom and grace. He preached the word of the Gospel in Italy and later in Belgium, where he converted many pagans to Christianity. His period of ministry coincided with the persecutions of Christians under the emperor Domitian.
When the saint found out that his persecutors were approaching, he remained in the city and continued to teach, urging people to remain firm and unwavering in their faith. He was arrested together with the presbyter Maxianos and the deacon Ioulianos, who were executed before his eyes.
The saint did not waver but, filled with courage, confessed his faith and got executed with a sword.
After his death, a radiant light shone over his body, and a mighty voice was heard calling him to receive the crown of martyrdom. His body was buried with honor. Many, sensing the fragrance that flowed from it, came to believe in Christ.
Saint Loukianos became a protector and helper of the people, healing their illnesses and delivering them from demons.
