Venerable Luke was from Lycaonia. He was a monk and later abbot of the Savior Monastery “Deep Rivers” near Trigleia, not far from Constantinople, in the Gulf of Kios. The first holy abbot of this monastery was Venerable Basil, and the second was Venerable Ignatius. Venerable Luke became the third holy abbot of the monastery in the year 975. The monastery of “Deep Rivers” was renowned for the strict ascetic life of its brethren. Venerable Luke reposed at the end of the 10th century.
